Day 1:
1.       I will begin the lesson by gathering all my students onto the discussion carpet. When they get there they will see a table with paper bags on it. I will tell them that there is a mystery item in each of these bags and they will have to guess what it is. I will give them hints by describing the item. For example: Inside my paper bag is something that it is red, it is round, it’s very yummy, it’s healthy. I will do this until my students are able to guess what is in my mystery bag (an apple!). I will do this again with the next bag and item. For the last one I will chose one of my students to come up and take a look into the last bag and have him be the one to describe what’s inside it.
2.       After I do this interactive activity, I will ask my students to repeat to me some of the description words they remember me saying about the items in the bag. I will create a list of the words they come up with on the board for them to see.
3.       I will ask my students what all these words have in common. I will help them come to the conclusion that they each are a word that is describing something. I will ask them to come up with a few more of their own description words. Once the board is full of adjectives, I will tell the class that all of these words are called adjectives which are words that come before a noun to describe it.
4.       I will end of the lesson with this short YouTube video about adjectives. https://youtu.be/m_QkDFf-Hu8
5.       Before my students leave for the day I will give them each of my students their own paper bag. I will tell them to bring it home and return the next day with a mystery item inside which we will do an activity with.
Day 2:
1.       I will begin by writing the word “Adjective” on the board and ask the class to remind me what this word means. I will then tell them to take their paper bag with their mystery item and put it on their desks. I will divide the class into groups of 4 and tell them to do just as I did the day before by taking turns using adjectives to describe their mystery item. I will walk around and listen to each of my student’s presentations to make sure they are following the rules and using proper words.
2.       When they are all done the paper bag activity I will send the class to the computer corner. There I will explain to them that they need to type up a short paragraph describing their mystery item with as many adjectives they can think of. I will tell them to use search online to find a picture that best portrays their item, or they can draw it on their own using any coloring/paint tool on the computer.
3.       I will print out each child description and picture and hang it up on the wall to create a “mini adjective word wall.”

Day 3:
1.       I  will begin the lesson by handing out a adjective worksheet. https://www.education.com/download/worksheet/121353/what-is-an-adjective.pdf
2.       Once they are done the sheet I will introduce the 5 senses and explain how it connects to adjectives. I will tell each child to choose one of the 5 senses, which they will make their own mind map on. I will show them an example of a mind map on the smart board.
3.       Each child will go onto the computer and begin their mind map ( https://www.mindmeister.com/?gad_campaign=US_brand&gclid=Cj0KEQjw5YfHBRDzjNnioYq3_swBEiQArj4pdLXEuVFh4uTVlUM4UqfjqOKNmhzvh0MMT5SZDc-IJ-4aAhsU8P8HAQ 1 ) For example if they chose the sense of taste then they will write “taste” in the center of the map and they create as many adjectives that they can think of that has to do with the sense of taste. (ie: delicious, sweet, bitter, spicy, oily…etc) They will create a Mind Map with words (adjectives) coming out of their sense. (Example: https://mm.tt/876633584?t=3vXgtTaGFp )

Day 4:
1.       During this lesson and the next I will have the students write a short story in their journal using as much descriptive language as they can. I will hand out a list of adjectives to help them think of different descriptive words to put in their story. I will also allow them to use the computer search engines to help them find more adjectives to enhance their story.
2.       If any students finish their whole story in one day, I will tell them to begin typing it on a Google Doc.

Day 5:
1.       Students will finish writing their descriptive story, and type their real draft on the computer on a Google Doc. When they are done rewriting it, they will go onto http://www.abcya.com/abcya_paint.htm and create a picture for their story.

2.       Students that have finished their story and drawing will be allowed to use play adjective review games https://www.turtlediary.com/games/adjectives.html
